Wall lap beacon (infra-red)

The wall beacon transmits a bright beam of coded flashes of infra red light in a 40 degree cone.

When the vehicle infra-red receiver mounted on the vehicle passes the correctly coded light pulses it will trigger its signal to indicate to the on-vehicle systems that the start/finish line has been crossed. Having the logged data provided with this location information allows the systems to calculate lap-time, lap distance and relative position on the lap and so generate split laps and sector timing.

One wall beacon can trigger multiple vehicle sensors. The vehicle sensor will typically detect the first correctly coded signal found and then ignore any other beacons detected within 10 seconds

This wall beacon transmitter is self contained and does not require a separate car battery to operate.

Red= RPM
Yellow= Throttle
Blue= Brake
Vertical Yellow Dash= Lap Mark

Charging

Charge the unit using the mains charger provided for at least 2 hour prior to use, the battery system allow the unit to be left on charge without detriment to the battery. When charging the red charge indicator will light, dimly at first and brighten.Once fully charged the unit should be able to operate for at least 8 hours. The charger can be left connected whilst the unit is operating – this is obviously preferable. The charger supplied with the unit must be used to supply the correct voltage and current required. Do not leave the unit operating when discharged as this can reduce the capacity of the battery.

Positioning

Place the unit as close to the start/finish line as possible and point the emitters directly at the position that the moving receiver will be in when passing. Direct sunlight on either the receiver or wall beacon will cause the communication strength to be affected.

Operation

Press the red on/off button and the red on indicator will flash. Note the emitters will only glow dimly as the infra red light is not visible.
