Exhaust Gas temperature sensor
The Exhaust gas sensor measures the exhaust gas temperature from within the exhaust pipe.
The sensor requires an exhaust amplifier for each sensor to provide a suitable voltage for a datarecoding or minilogger system. The sensor provides a fast reaction to the temperature changes.
Fitting
- Mount the sensor using an M5 brazed-on nut or gland. The sensor is required to be 100- 150mm away from the piston/exhaust port.
- The deeper the sensor is screwed into the pipe the more exposed the sensor is to the gas flow then the response and resolution is improved
- The more exposed the tip of the sensor is to the gas flow the shorter the life of the sensor.
- Keep the cable away from the hot exhaust
- Don’t stress or clip the cable tightly
- Lock wire the K-type connector into the amplifier
- Delicate sensor treat with care
- If the tip of the sensor is physically damaged then the sensor will not operate
Diagnostic values
With an ohm meter- Across the k-type pins the sensor will read 1 to 2 ohms
- From the body of the sensor to any off the k-type pins will be open circuit
